Lithuanian Metrology Inspectorate is the only state institution that controls how legal and natural persons observe the Law on Metrology of the Republic of Lithuania (Žin., 1996, No 74-1768) and other legal acts related to legal metrology. The Inspectorate executes state metrological inspection control of the condition and use of measuring instruments and the product quantities, protects the rights of the state and consumers from the effects of incorrect and illegal measurements. At present the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania executes the functions of the constitutor of Lithuanian Metrology Inspectorate.
